Giles Meikle (alcorn)

Photography is just one of my hobbies. I also enjoy golf, opera and computers (and, obviously, martinis).

For many years, prior to retirement, I travelled to Africa and the Far East, always with a camera(s). In the days of film, I carried a Canon A1 and several lenses, and a Minolta Maxxum 9000, again with many lenses.

In 1999, I acquired an Olympus 2000Z, and I have not used a film-based camera since. At Christmas 2003, I upgraded to a Panasonic FZ10, and, as of Christmas 2005, I became the proud owner of an FZ30. Then in 2008 came the FZ50, and in 2010 an FZ100.

I am a retired Chartered Accountant (40 years at Deloitte & Touche), now sitting on a few Boards.

Father of 5 and grandfather to the same number.
